Tonight, we went to a luau at the Grand Hyatt Resort. We picked this luau over others b/c it is typically held on the beach. However, the weather pattern here has been sunny and perfect during the day, and around 3:00 p.m. the clouds and rain roll in. Needless to say, the luau was held indoors. It was the typical Hawaiian luau with great dancers, great food, and great fun. At the luau we fed Peyton poi, the traditional Hawaiian starch. If you have never had poi before those who have tried it once, don't give it a second try. It tastes like paste (don't act like you don't know that taste, we all secretly ate it in elementary school once or twice) and has the consistency of runny wallpaper paste.
Here is my cheesy mastercard breakdown:
1. Tickets to luau for 2 adults and 1 child= $140.00
2. Gas to drive to other side of the island for luau= $5.00
3. Tip for waiter at the luau= $7.00
4. Watching your daughter taste poi for the first time= priceless

Hi Shanks! The pictures are fantastic. We especially love the one of Pete eating the Poi. Who eats Poi and enjoys it anyway? So glad you are having a blast. We cannot wait to hear all about your trip and give you big hugs. Enjoy each moment you are there.

I laughed and cried at your posts :-)! The pictures are priceless, I am insanely jealous not only that you're in Kauai, but that your sweet girl would sit and play on her little mat and be content. Our man, as you know, would be running into the ocean a thousand times a day. I love the imagery of Peyton sleeping on Micah. Such sweet memories you're making! Oh, I'm so sad you didn't get to see Waimea Canyon. If you have a chance it's definitely worth the trip back over there. It's amazing. If you don't, we can share our vast amounts of pictures of it and you can pretend you saw it! Thinking about you guys all time time!!!!
